Since it was initially built for the iOS platform running on the ARM architecture, only iPads were supported. With its intuitive UI, support for the Apple Pencil, and powerful logic in the background it gathered widespread praise and attention as well as receiving the Apple Design Award in 2020. Shapr3D started as a mobile-first, iOS only, CAD design app. Being content with these references for my first design iteration it was time to get something off the ground. Besides offering complete bikes, they sell bolt-on parts that carry their striking design language - including a sleek tail for a Honda CB750. They describe themselves as motorcycle enthusiasts committed to functional and beautiful design, building modern interpretations of cafe-racer-type motorcycles. Further great inspiration is the work of custom motorcycle manufacturer Hookie Co. The fender on those bikes is A) an integrated part of the motorcycle's body construction and B) just long enough to keep away the dirt from the rider without looking like it was put there afterwards. Looking at different images of 1990's motocross bikes I found an aesthetic direction to lead me in this process. To enable the vision to form a definitive shape, taking the time to look at what's out there and draw inspiration can help you make the right choices in the design process. Sometimes, the final product is already available in my mind's eye from the get-go. For me, having a clear vision or concept of what you want to create is critically important.
